Mr. Perotti concentrates his practice in handling consumer and other class actions, representing employees in discrimination suits, and litigating complex commercial disputes.
Mr. Perotti and Dworken & Bernstein have been appointed by courts to handle a wide variety of class actions against large insurance companies, banks, realty companies and other businesses. These suits achieved significant victories for persons financially harmed by corporate wrongdoing, as well as victories for persons physically harmed by defective products or goods. Additionally, these suits have resulted in orders requiring businesses and employers to cease and desist harmful and unlawful practices.
Dworken & Bernstein is proud that the settlement of many of these cases also directed hundreds of thousands of dollars of unclaimed class funds to the benefit of charities like Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, and other worthy causes.
Mr. Perotti is also certified as a specialist in employment law by the Ohio State Bar Association. Mr. Perotti concentrates in civil rights and employment discrimination law, including age, sex, race, handicap and religious discrimination and sexual harassment, as well as 42 U.S.C. 1983 and free speech claims. He is a frequent lecturer at state and national conferences on employment discrimination and employment law, and he is often quoted by the media on those subjects. He was interviewed in a New York Times article on infertility as a disability. He was featured on the Leeza Gibbons show discussing sexual invasion of privacy claims. He has often appeared on local shows, like The Morning Exchange, speaking on pregnancy discrimination, and employment topics. He is the author of a comprehensive treatise on the
Mr. Perotti has successfully represented employment plaintiffs in the following lead cases: in the Ohio Supreme Court: Mauzy v. Kelly Services, (1996) 75 Ohio St.3d 578, which allows circumstantial evidence to be used as a direct proof of employment discrimination; and Kulch v. Structural Fibers, (1997), 78 Ohio St.3d 134 which established a Greely claim in Ohio for whistle-blowing; and in Federal Court, Stanley v. The Lawson Company, 993 F.S. 1084 (N.D. Ohio 1997) which analyzes sex and religion discrimination standards under Title VII.
Mr. Perotti was a member of the Governor's Ohio Adoption Task Force, 1990-1992 and appointed Chairman of the Governor's Ohio Adoption Commission in 1992. He is the Staff Counsel of the Ohio Right to Life Society. He is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association, the Ohio Employment Lawyers Association, Cuyahoga County Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, Lake County Bar Association (Chairman, Employment and Labor Law Committee), and Ohio State (Member Federal Courts and Practice Committee) Bar Association, and the American Society of International Law.
